The child custody process in New York

In New York state, a parent can have legal and/or physical custody of a child. In some cases, either legal or physical custody will be shared between the parents or given to one person. Generally, parents share legal custody, which allows them to make decisions about a child collectively. If a parent has physical custody, the kid primarily lives with that person. It is not uncommon for a parent to get sole physical custody even if legal custody is shared.

Estate planning and family heirlooms

Individuals who are planning their estate in New York may have an easy time figuring out how to include assets like money, stocks and bonds in their plan. "Hard" assets like jewelry and artwork can be more difficult to include because they can't be easily divided among beneficiaries, and their value is more difficult to determine. It is important not to overlook these types of assets even though they can make an estate plan more complex.
