Traits that may lead to the end of a marriage

There are several factors that may influence whether or not an individual gets a divorce. For example, New York residents who see their parents get divorced may be more likely to do so themselves. However, there is a debate as to whether that is a result of nature or nurture. What a person looks like may also play a role in whether or not he or she is going to get divorced.

Individuals who are deemed attractive generally have a higher risk than those who are deemed to be average looking. Those who conceive a child less than eight months into their marriage may increase the risk of it ending. According to researchers from Emory University, those who spent in excess of $20,000 on their wedding were 3.5 times more likely to get divorced than those who spent $5,000 to $10,000.

Individuals who were divorced in the past were also more likely to get a divorce in the future. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, roughly 40 percent of second marriages end within 10 years. Finally, a woman who is not overly religious may have greater odds of leaving her spouse compared to those who do have a strong religious affiliation. Roughly half of Protestant women saw their marriages last for 20 years while that was true for 53 percent of Catholics according to data from the National Center for Health Statistics.

The end of a marriage may be an emotional time for an individual. Therefore, it may be a good idea to have an attorney review the case from an objective manner.
